Can I move in today?

Yes. If a unit is available and you have filled out the necessary paperwork, you can move in straight away.

What do I need to bring with me to rent a unit?

You will need to bring a valid photograph ID (e.g. passport) and valid address ID (e.g. utility bill). More information can be found here.

Are there any hidden costs?

NO.

How do I pay for my unit?

Your first payment must be either by debit or credit card. Subsequent payments can either be taken by direct debit or by automatic monthly withdrawals from your card.

When can I access my unit?

You can access your unit at anytime during our opening hours:

Mon – Fri 8am to 6pm.
Sat – Sun 10am to 3pm.

Units can also be accessed outside of opening hours by prior arrangement – call us on 020 8504 1700.

What can I store?

Almost anything can be stored in our units – from furniture to books and clothes, office equipment to excess stock. Please note however, that we cannot store the following items:

– food or perishable goods;
– birds, fish, animals or any other living creatures; – combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as gas, paint, petrol, oil or cleaning solvents;
– firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition;
– chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents;
– toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a potentially dangerous nature;
– any item which emits any fumes, smell or odour;
– any illegal substances, illegal items or goods illegally obtained; compressed gases.

What about insurance?

BWI Self Storage removes the hassle of insurance as we can arrange to have goods insured directly with Royal and Sun Alliance at a rate of £1.00 per £1000 of cover per 7 days. Please visit our insurance page for further details.

Are my goods safe?

We take security very seriously. You can rest assured knowing that your stored goods are extremely well protected with 24 hour CCTV surveillance, well lit corridors, smoke detectors and regular staff patrols. You are the only person that holds the key to your personal padlock. In addition the store is connected to the Police and Fire service by BT Redcare.

Do you sell boxes?

We sell a wide range of boxes and other packaging supplies, we also sell padlocks in a range of sizes. A full list and prices can be found on our packaging page.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 7 days and the unit is yours for as long as you need it (minimum period of 2 weeks in conjunction with our offer).

Do I have to serve notice if I want to leave?

We require just 7 days notice prior to your departure.
